Democrats Post Historic Numbers, GOP Down from 2010

Democrats posted their highest midterm turnout numbers in over twenty years, while South Carolina Republicans saw a massive drop in turnout compared to the last comparable midterm primary in 2010. “There is strong momentum for Democrats in SC,” said CCDP Chair Brady-Quirk-Garvan, “people are tired of the culture of corruption and are ready for a change.” In another positive sign for November, all Democrats appearing on Charleston-area primary ballots have moved on to the general election while multiple GOP candidates will be forced to continue throwing punches at one another for another two weeks.

We would like to congratulate Representative James Smith, Representative Mandy Powers Norrell, Joe Cunningham, Michael Miller and the Honorable Stephanie Ganaway-Pasley on their victories in this historic Democratic primary and we look forward to fielding a formidable slate of candidates in November’s general election.
