Charleston County Democratic Party Statement on the end of Reproductive Freedom in SC

CHARLESTON, SC – Our thoughts are with the millions of South Carolina women who lost autonomy over their own bodies yesterday.  There will be countless painful and difficult moments in exam rooms and living rooms made much harder by 27 male Republican State Senators and 1 male Republican Governor who have decided they know best for all South Carolina families. Lives will be forever changed because these Republican men inserted themselves into those private situations.

The General Assembly did not pass a budget this session.  It did not expand Medicaid, or raise the minimum wage, and South Carolina’s public schools remain among the worst in America.
