Speakers Announced for Blue Palmetto

Tickets are selling fast for this year's Blue Palmetto Dinner, the signature fundraiser for the South Carolina Democratic Party. Taking place on Friday, April 20 (the night before the State Convention), the dinner is part of SCDP Dem Weekend 2018. This annual event offers an opportunity to meet Democratic leaders from around the country. This year, the state party is pleased to welcome Kentucky's Secretary of State, Alison Lundergan Grimes and Congressman Tim Ryan of Ohio.

As the youngest Secretary of State in the nation, Alison Lundergan Grimes made national headlines in her neck-and-neck race with the current Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell. As Secretary of State, she has become one of the leading voices in the fight to protect voting rights, including her push to restore voting rights to non-violent felons in Kentucky. 

The keynote speaker will be Congressman Tim Ryan, who sits on the influential House Appropriations Committee and serves as Co-Chair of the Congressional Addiction, Treatment, and Recovery Caucus. He has been a leading figure in the fight against our nation's opioid epidemic, as well as a champion for manufacturing through his work with the Congressional Manufacturing Caucus.
