Emerge: Black History Month Leadership Conversation

In February, we are celebrating Black History Month and all the amazing women in our Emerge network that embody Black Girl Excellence! Join us on Wednesday, February 28th to hear from Emerge President A'shanti Gholar, Wisconsin State Representative LaKeshia Myers, and El Cerrito Mayor Pro Tem Carolyn Wysinger on the unique strengths Black women bring to leadership roles. Representative Myers and Mayor Pro Tem Wysinger are also both proud members of Emerge's 2023 cohort of Seated Together!

  • Mayor Pro Tem of El Cerrito, CA Carolyn Wysinger has worked fiercely in the LGBTQ community in a plethora of capacities, including written work for blogs such as Everyday Feminism, Black Girl Dangerous and Media Diversified. She also serves alongside the family of George Floyd on the board of the Philonise and Keeta Floyd Institute for Social Change.

  • WI State Representative LaKeshia Myers is passionate about improving the educational system, advocating that fewer people be re-imprisoned for minor probation and parole violations. She is the only African-American woman in the Assembly from the Milwaukee area, and one of only two statewide. This week, she announced she is running for a vacant Milwaukee State Senate seat!

RSVP Today to hear from these incredible Black leaders!
