Local Democrats Respond to Trump in Charleston County, where he Lost Twice

Today Former President Donald Trump will bring his increasingly extreme and dangerous campaign to the Charleston area.  Trump lost Charleston County by 8% to Hillary Clinton in 2016 and by 13% to Joe Biden in 2020.

Charleston County Democratic Party Chair Sam Skardon made the following comments about the visit: “Charleston County has already rejected Donald Trump twice and we will again in 2024.”

“The Lowcountry’s brave servicemembers and veterans do not want a President who sells out to Russia. The working people of Charleston do not want a President whose only major accomplishment was a tax cut for millionaires. The law-abiding citizens of Charleston do not want a President who has been indicted 91 times and who attempted to violently overturn the results of an election,” said Skardon.

Charleston Democrats are confident that, despite today’s visit, Charleston County will once again vote for Joe Biden, a dignified and mainstream alternative to the increasingly dangerous Donald Trump.
